today's smoothie:
1 kiwi
1/2 lemon
1/2 fennel
1 small pink lady apple
3/4 cup pineapple
1 stalk celery
1/2 inch slice ginger
2 leaves lacinato kale
3 leaves beet greens
3/4 c almond milk
made about 30 oz
Outcome:
I was trying to recreate an amazing smoothie I made a few days ago, but missed the mark by a hair. While still tasty, the drink would've benefited from the mellowing flavors of banana and nuts or seeds. Without them the lemon, kiwi, and pineapple are a touch too tart and texture was more gritty than I care for.
Fennel in my smoothies is a recent addition and I'm loving the subtle bit of anise in my drinks made all the more tasty by its antioxidant and many health promoting properties. Yum!
