Today's smoothie:
1 banana, frozen
1/2 c blueberries, frozen
1/4 lemon
1 orange
2 c spinach
1 kale leaf
3 beet leaves
1 medjool date
1 tbsp hemp seeds
1 tsp lecithin
1 1/4 c almond milk
cinnamon
vanilla extract
made about 32 oz
Outcome:
Felt like a simpler smoothie this morning after yesterdays hard to drink one, but I just couldn't help myself. Meant for this to be just blueberries, banana, spinach and almond milk, but somehow all kinds of other things found their way into the blender. Overall, it's pretty good, with the blueberries, banana and almond milk the predominant flavors. The date may have pushed things too much to the sweet side and these days I'm not so fond of my old favorite additions, cinnamon and vanilla, but overall, it's not bad and reminds me of a blueberry muffin.
It's interesting to observe how my tastes have changed after making green smoothies for a couple of years. At first they fairly simple, mostly fruit with spinach or kale making up the 'green' portion. These days I crave more and more veggies in my drinks. Tomorrow's will be more adventurous.
